Senior Product Specialist Ian Schafer and Sales Consultant Jordan Davis recently presented an overview of UDA Technologies' partnership with Amazon Web Services hosting. Following the webinar, I caught up with Jordan and Ian to ask them a few questions about the benefits of implementing Amazon Web Services:

Why did UDA Technologies select Amazon Web Services as their cloud hosting partner?

Jordan: Cloud hosting has been around for a while, and we've sent people every which way, to mixed levels of success. We've tried other services ourselves – including Microsoft Azure, and waiting for programs to load was like watching someone pour cold syrup. Amazon is the complete opposite. The AWS hosting solutions have been nothing short of remarkable in terms of speed, accessibility, and affordability, and we’re confident that we’ve found the best option out there for our customers.

How can cloud hosting benefit my company in comparison to using ConstructionSuite9 traditionally?

Jordan: By hosting ConstructionSuite in the cloud, you’re making the powerful tools for managing your business accessible anywhere. That increased accessibility opens all sorts of possibilities – remote accountant/bookkeeper access, quick calendar and schedule updates, and in-field document signatures, to list a few. Keep in mind that the speed of AWS, as well. You may have tried cloud hosting or another remote desktop option before, but you haven’t experienced anything as fast and easy to use as our cloud hosting option.

Ian: Cloud hosting offers a number of advantages over traditional, in-office use.  With ConstructionSuite in the cloud, you and your team will be able to access ConstructionSuite from anywhere on any smart device; this means you will be able to substantially cut down on meetings, trips to the office, bookkeeper/accountant visits, and more.  In addition, UDA Technologies will maintain all the software on the cloud hosted computer – no more waiting on a tech support company for updates when they can be taken care of immediately by the experts!

Can other software be hosted on the cloud with ConstructionSuite 9?

Jordan: Yes, we’re already operating cloud hosting solutions for companies that include QuickBooks desktop and Microsoft Office. The speed and performance of cloud hosted apps continue to surprise us and our customers. Because the cloud hosted desktop is Windows based, we have a lot of flexibility when it comes to specific apps that we can host.

Ian: Yes – We currently have clients working with both ConstructionSuite and QuickBooks in the cloud, with plans to include many of our partner applications as needed.  We will also review additional applications upon request.

How long does the set up process take and how complicated is it?

Jordan: All the process entails on the client side is them sending our team any program data that needed to be backed up and their ConstructionOnline log in information for each user (ConstructionOnline free accounts are used to set up Amazon Web Hosting for each company). So, the length of the set up process truly depends on how long the client takes to send over the required information. After our team receives their data, it only takes one to two business days to get everything set up on our side.

Ian: Once we receive user information and data from clients, our expected turn-around time is 24-48 hours for hosted servers.  If you are working in a shared space, this time might change based on availability.
